Dear Members,
There was some truly awesome training this week at as classes kicked off at our Three Kings and Diocesan School branches - check out some cool photos from Three Kings here! Can Adults Begin Martial Arts Training? We sometimes have people ask: "Can I start Taekwon-Do at my age or is it just for the kids?" Taekwon-Do is for all ages, and within the Taekwon-Do community in New Zealand there are members aged 3 to about 75! While we have many kids in our club who enjoy Taekwon-Do, we also have members who have started Taekwon-Do as adults and derive much enjoyment and benefit out of their training (and many of whom train with their kids too!). Taekwon-Do Gets You Active! Taekwon-Do is a great way to get fit and strong. We do a range of activities in our classes including fitness work, pad work, fundamental movements, stretching, flexibility work and more. Unlike working out at a gym, you get to train with other people, become part of a community and learn some awesome martial arts and self defence skills at the same time. You Can Start at the Beginning Sometimes people say "But I've never done anything like this before!" Don't worry - because no-one coming along to start Taekwon-Do for the first time is expected to be fit and know how to do everything - that's why you come to training! No-one starts out knowing everything and every single person you train with knows what it's like to start at the beginning - because that's where they started out too. Over time you'll gradually increase your fitness, improve muscle tone and, of course, improve your Taekwon-Do techniques and skills. Click to continue reading ...
