Dear Members, Last week we were very lucky to have Master Daher, 8th degree black belt from Australia visit our club and take our Thursday 6.30pm class. Our Warrior members and visiting Remuera club members learnt a lot and had an awesome time training with Master Daher. We also heard in class from the Warrior team at the recent Under 18s Tournament about their experiences at the tournament. The full tournament results have now been posted online, and congratulations to Mischke Hendricks and Suhaila Sayid Ghoolam (pictured above), who won best overall belts at the tournament. Full Warrior results are now posted on our website here. So if you're feeling inspired, don't forget to join the team heading to Pukekohe for the more relaxed and fun Pee Wee Tournament in just two weeks' time, as a competitor (if you're 12 or under) or as a helper (if you're over 12). Register here New Grading Dates In addition to the TKD Kubz grading next week and the Term 4 Mini Kids Grading planned for the end of the term, we are also holding another colour belt grading before the end of the year as there were a few members who were very close to being ready for our October grading but needed a little more time - and participants in our recent adult beginner's course are now close to grading level too! So if you are a colour belt student interested in grading before the end of the year, keep working on and perfecting your techniques and syllabus and you may be able to grade in December. Extra Practice Before Grading We highly recommend coming along Open Dojang in the weekends for a bit of extra practice coming up to your gradings. During these sessions, which are free for Warrior members, the dojang is open and available for you to come and do your own training (unless there are special events being run on the day) and Mr John Matsuoka (5th degree black belt) and other seniors are available to help with any questions (make sure you use excellent etiquette when asking for help) - or you can do your own thing. These sessions run every weekend and are particular popular coming up to gradings, so we would certainly encourage you to check it out if you haven't already. All Open Dojang users need to have a VIP keytag to scan as they come in the door. While your sessions are free, Warrior members just need to purchase a keytag from the office ($5 one-off) and are good to go. Have a great training week! Best wishes, Rachel Bates Manager
