Dear Members,
We had a busy second week back last week - it is so great to have everyone back, see some new faces and some students graduating into the next class up. We also kicked off our first movie night of the year on Friday - thanks to everyone who came along to support and fundraise - we had a fun night! Look out for our other movie nights later on in the year. Star Charts You will have noticed that all of our students have star charts this year. The star colour represents a student's rank, and the charts will be used by instructors come grading time to check if students have attended the required amount of sessions to be eligible to grade. Mini kids must have at least 7 stars to be eligible to grade at the end of this term. Please note that this is not the only grading criteria - but attendance is one of the factors taken into consideration when instructors make their decision on a student's grading eligibility. Demo at Dio Recently we put on a demonstration at the Diocesan School Sports Expo - the photo with this week's newsletter is of Mr. Matthew Chan demonstrating precision and control as he kicks an object off Miss. Roisin Giles' head! A big thank you to Mr. Chan, Miss. Giles, Miss. Kavita Jaduram, Miss. Tess King and all the other helpers that put on a great demonstration. Open Gym For those of you who are new to Taekwon-Do or have been training for a while and would be keen to get in some extra practice, there is an open gym session run at 198 Marua Rd independently of Warrior Taekwon-Do from 2-4pm on Sundays, open to all registered members of International Taekwon-Do. You can turn up any time between 2 and 4 (wearing dobok pants and a t-shirt is fine) and it is just a gold coin donation. Work on your own technique by yourself or politely ask for help from more senior ranked belts in attendance. Have a great training week! Best wishes, The Warrior Taekwon-Do Team
