WTKD News: 30 June

Dear Members,

Last week we had our biggest mini kids grading yet! 63 kids from our Ellerslie and Three Kings branches, along with their parents had a very successful mini kids grading.  Congratulations everyone!

It's been exciting to see members from both of our recent gradings sporting new ribbons or belts at the dojang this week. 
  
Oceania Championships
This week a team of our staff and students are winging their way to the 6th Oceania Taekwon-Do Championships being held in the Cook Islands.

who are representing New Zealand on Saturday (which is really Sunday, according to the time difference!) against Australia and the Cook Islands.  Also going to help at the championships from our staff are Rachel Bates and Master Paul McPhail.

Holiday Timetable
The school holidays are next week! Hooray! During the July school holidays (5 July - 20 July) we will be running a limited timetable at our Ellerslie location in order to have better class numbers:

3-5 year old class - 4.30pm and 5.30pm sessions will run on Mondays 

Mon-Fri 3.30pm and 4.30pm classes are COMBINED and running at 4.30pm
Mon-Fri 5.30pm and 6.30pm classes are COMBINED and running at 6.30pm

Saturday 9.30am classes at Stanhope Rd School Hall will continue to run except on 5 July

Please make sure you diary the times your class will be on during the holidays.

Because a lot our team are away for the Oceania Championships during the first week of the holidays there will be other members from our instructing team as well some guest instructors taking classes.  There are also a number of brand new beginners who will be trying Taekwon-Do out for the first time in the holidays.  Please give our guest instructors and new beginners a Warrior welcome and treat them with your utmost courtesy and respect.  

Pee Wee Tournament - July 20
This week there's a notice going out about the Pee Wee Tournament on the 20th of July as we'd like as many of our eligible little warriors to come along and have some fun! This Pee Wee tournament is suitable for anyone on the mini kids syllabus, anyone aged 12 or under (mini kids or colour belts).  This week there'll be some focus in class on the skills required for the events that are in the tournament. 

It's just $20 to compete in four events on tournament day - make sure you register your child here. 

Free Holiday Classes for Non-Members 
Do you have friends and family who are keen to give Taekwon-Do a go? Do you have or know children under 5? This holidays we have free classes for all ages!

Taekwon-Do Kubz Taster - 3-5 year olds
TKD Kubz is kicking off at Warrior with a free taster programme during the July school holidays! TKD Kubz is a fun filled, safety-first children's programme for 3-5 year olds, inspiring great behaviour, teaching social interaction and so much more! TKD Kubz have fun learning how to perform the coolest TKD moves, with super-cool drills, learning everything from great communication skills to keeping safe. 

We are running a TKD Kubz Taster course on Mondays at 3.30pm during the holidays with the fantastic Miss. Jacky Geurts who is a TKD Kubz-certified instructor.  You can find out more about it and apply here. 

Free Holiday Taekwon-Do Sessions - all ages!
Friends and family of all ages can try our Taekwon-Do sessions for free this holidays! If you have a friend you'd like to train with, or perhaps you bring a child to Taekwon-Do but have always wanted to give it a go yourself, apply for our free holiday Taekwon-do sessions here.
